The knowledge of one's neighbourhood and country is referred to as civic consciousness. This might imply participation in education on a local level, but it can also imply more. Civic consciousness comprises social consciousness, knowledge of the outside world, and compassion for others. A person's innate understanding of the political and social context or situations she encounters is referred to as civic consciousness.

She becomes aware of these concerns and participates in different local matters as a result of how she perceives them. It is that aspect of our civic consciousness that encompasses all of our awareness, education, and community participation on a national and local level.

Civic consciousness is the awareness of one's community and country. This can mean community-wide involvement in education, but it also means more than that. Civic consciousness includes consideration of others, awareness of the world outside of the United States and social-mindedness.A person's civic consciousness is an inherent awareness of the political and social climate or issues that she faces. It is her perception of those issues in which she becomes aware and involved in various community affairs. It is that part of our national conscience, as well as our conscience as citizens, which includes all of our awareness, knowledge and involvement in the community.

The concept of Civic Consciousness was first introduced by the German sociologist Max Weber in the early 1900s. It refers to a person's attitude towards his or her political and social environment. The term has changed over time and present-day civic consciousness is associated with being aware of personal rights as well as responsibilities within a community and environment. Participants of our study were youth who had experience with campaigns related to human rights, and they were more likely to feel socially conscious than those who had not.
