Kerala SSLC English 10th Standard My Sisters Shoes Summary
Ali receives his sister Zahra's pink sneakers from the cobbler just after they have been repaired. After that, he purchases some baked nan from a bakery, puts them on a piece of fabric, and then bundles the fabric. Ali then walks into a vegetable shop and places the bag of shoes between two boxes and the bundle of naan on top of a vegetable box. As he gathers potatoes, Akbar, the owner of the business, alerts Ali that their credit limit has been reached. He cautions Ali that his parents won't be able to buy any more veggies on credit unless they make a payment. In the meantime, a junk collector shows in and takes Ali's shoe bag because he considers it to be rubbish.
When Ali comes out, she looks for the missing shoe bag, but she cannot find it. I-le is anxious and terrified as she frantically searches everywhere. Akbar becomes enraged and screams at Ali when I-le tips over vegetable boxes. Ali runs away in terror. Ali's mother is confined to bed because of a disc fracture. The father of Ali was a daily wage labourer who was now unemployed. The family is having a hard time getting by. Her disc fracture will be treated surgically, the mother tells her father. However, her father claims that the procedure would make her disabled. (He objects to the operation since he cannot afford to pay for it.) The drawbacks of their circumstance are something that Ali and Zahra are fully aware of.
Ali and Zahra are conscious of their parents' financial struggles and do not want to make them feel worse by getting them a new pair of shoes. They fear that they will receive punishment if their parents find out about the missing sneakers. Ali and Zahra exchange notes in their notebooks while they finish their coursework. Zahra asks Ali about his school clothes. Ali suggests that she put on her slippers first. Furious, Zahra threatens to tell his father about the missing shoes. Ali replies that if he tells, his father would beat both of them. Finally, they devise a scheme for Zahra to always go around in Ali's footwear.
